This information is currently found in more than 70 different registers and records kept by government bodies and other legal entities, such as professional organizations (Slovak Chamber of Architects, Slovak Bar Association, etc.). The register´s administrator is the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic and the register shall be fully functional in November 2017.

Information defined by law shall be entered into the register of legal entities about the following entities:
a) legal entity,
b) natural person – entrepreneur,
c) enterprise of a foreign entity / organisational unit of a foreign entity,
d) public authority,
e) branch,
f) organisational unit established by a Slovak legal entity, natural person – entrepreneur or a public authority, if registered in the special record as defined by law.

Although the register contains information on the natural persons – entrepreneurs, it shall be called „the register of legal entities“.

The register of legal entities will be available on a website of the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic. Information published shall be accessible free of charge and have informative character only. Regarding legal entities and natural persons – entrepreneurs, it would be possible to find out information such as a business name, registered office, legal form, the scope of business, current legal status etc.

Through the registry of legal entities, it would be also possible to obtain the extract/full transcript from the criminal records or similar outputs from other records (e.g. an extract from the business register and trade register, an extract from the register of political parties, associations, NGOs, etc.) that are otherwise provided by a special institution.
